Alexis graduated in Fine Art Printmaking from The University of Wales Institute, Cardiff in 2003. The following year, she took up her first residency at The Art Shop to work on a printmaking project gathering her inspiration and imagery from Abergavenny, and in particular, the town buildings and immediate landscape.
The work was so successful that she was invited back as Artist-in-Residence to produce a new body of work entitled ‘Abergavenny & The Marches’. Travelling further afield, into the local landscape, her work illustrates her unique way of interpreting our everyday surroundings.
Working primarily with the lino-block relief printing process, she has also experimented using small detailed wood-blocks. Also published for the first time is - ‘A Tale of Good and Evil and Angels and Dragons’, a colouring book by Alexis and Rob Snell, commissioned by The Angel Hotel in Abergavenny.
