George Rowlett – A Given Glory

George Rowlett – Marion’s Sweetpeas, Midday Light (Cobalt Blue) – oil on board 36 x 24″

Our new show A Given Glory – George Rowlett’s Flower Paintings opened on 22nd June to a joyous response.

More usually known for his thick, sumptuous, glowing landscape paintings, George  brings the same intense energy and lightness of touch to this collection of flower paintings. Their first showing in Wales, and in fact, some of the paintings are being seen for the very first time.

George and his wife, Marion came down for the opening. He particularly liked his work hung in one of the rooms which was specially painted for Peter Greenaway’s exhibition in 2005. Seen here, the colour, by the way, is Michael Harding’s Artists Oil viridian mixed with cobalt green.
