Three books on drawing

Now available from our online shop three of our best selling books on drawing. It is hard to find really good art technique books that explore contemporary practice and process in an inspiring and revealing way. These are our firm favourites…

The Drawing Book by Sarah Simblet – a comprehensive guide for beginner or expert. Will take you through the basics onto more advanced techniques.

‘Drawing Projects – an exploration of the language of drawing’ – the best book around to learn about freedom of expression through mark making.

‘Drawing and Painting People – a Fresh Approach’ – an unpretentious and non-academic approach to drawing and painting. Will allow you to become more expressive and adventurous, building confidence by taking risks.

Our new exhibition Magical Thinking is now open and runs until 26th October.

It is such a pleasure to be showing this first solo show by Philippa Robbins, a new, emerging talent. Paintings, drawings, Mexican tin nichos, Russian dolls, maquettes… this really is a whole cast of supporting works.

Marceline – acrylic on board in tin nicho

Marceline (see image left) is a beautiful Devon Rex kitten, just a few months old, belonging to Philippa’s daughter. She became something of a celebrity at the private view, quietly sitting upstairs away from the bussle but happily welcoming visitors, so affectionate.
