Rachel Tudor Best

Rachel grew up in Glyncorrwg, a coal mining community in South Wales. She went on to work for ten years as a Nurse and Midwife in Whitechapel London and Honduras before beginning her formal training as an Artist and Illustrator. Rachel graduated with a BA in Illustration from Hereford College of Art and Design in 2007.

Rachel’s work draws on a wide range of imagery and artefacts from traditional European folk Art and folk tales as well as her own strong sense of playfulness with subject and material. She enjoys the diversity of her commissions which have included working for The Guardian, Granta, Carcanet Press, and Hereford’s Museum on the Move, among others. ‘Cunning Little Vixen ‘ commissioned by The Peabody Opera Theatre, was recently given the 2010 Gold Award in Advertising by The Association of Illustrators.
