The FERRANTE FAMILY
Elio Ferrante and his family produce high quality organic single estate extra virgin olive oil on their 25 acre farm in Abruzzo, central Italy. Rosie Sykes, chef and friend of the Chapel Kitchen, got to know Elio and his family when visiting Abruzzo and was enamoured with their love of food and passion for sharing the dishes of their region. The Ferrantes are driven by the Italian love of local, seasonal and traditional cooking and are over in the UK for their second visit. They will share an autumn menu of regional cooking with a meal at the Chapel in Abergavenny.
The new olive oil, to be harvested this October is due to be shipped across in time for the meal, giving a rare opportunity to taste oil that is not only of exceptional quality but rarely available this fresh. It will still be green and fiery with a strong peppery aftertaste. Alongside the opportunity to taste this fresh olive oil will be a range of other local produce, including their own cured pork sausages and award winning Pecorino di Farindola.
This menu was selected by the family as one that is typical for the time of year.
