Basket Willow Weaving – with Amanda Rayner

Upstairs at the Chapel

Wednesday 2nd September 2026, 9am-5pm

Weave a beautiful willow Shoulder Basket.

Create your own willow shoulder basket using a Catalan style base, followed by a 3 rod wale and a rand! A decorative border will finish the basket before adding the leather straps.
Simple but effective techniques to weave a strong, beautiful and robust basket to use as a handbag, lunch basket or forager.

*Note – this class is a longer day than usual with an earlier start of 9am, to allow for more finishing time.

Amanda from Wyldwood Willow is a local basketmaker near Usk and has over 25 years of experience weaving with willow and hedgerow materials and fibres. She will guide you through this process during the course of the day and will provide all tools and materials for you to use.
