‘Working in sculpture my materials are invariably found, as I attempt to transform discarded objects into meaningful and coherent ideas- to shape and discover new meaning. It is the quality of decaying materials which fascinates, the richness of texture, a story already attached; it is then a matter of bringing these various objects together into a new whole. To reclaim, is to see infinite variations.

My work over past years has been inspired by the written word, from writers as diverse as Arundhati Roy, Susan Sontag and Sylvia Plath. Fairy tales have provided me with new challenges as I work to distil the stories down to their essentials and in so doing, shed the superfluous, to capture their intrinsic magic.’
